rundown

Privacy & terms

Rundown is an invite-only tool that turns a video into a transcript, summary and chapters. This page says what it stores, where, and for how long. Last updated 11 September 2026.

What happens to your video

For a local file, the audio track is extracted in your browser and only the audio is uploaded; the video itself never leaves your computer. For a YouTube or Google Drive link, the server fetches the audio. The audio is sent to a speech-to-text provider, the transcript is sent to Claude for the summary, takeaways, chapters and name corrections, and the audio file is deleted from the server as soon as the rundown is ready or has finally failed (at the latest within a day).

What is kept

The transcript, summary, takeaways, chapters, the video's title and length, and processing details (timings, provider usage) are kept until you delete the rundown. Deleting it removes all of that. Nightly database backups are kept for 14 days, so a deleted rundown can survive in a backup for up to two weeks.

Your Google account

Sign-in uses Google. Rundown stores your email address, name and profile photo. If you connect Google Drive, Rundown keeps a token that lets it read files you can already open, only to fetch the video you paste a link to; it never lists, changes or shares your files. A file blocked by Google's download limit can, with your explicit permission, be copied into your own Drive for a moment and deleted again. You can revoke access at any time in your Google account settings.

Providers

Audio is processed by Deepgram (speech-to-text) and transcripts by Anthropic (Claude) under their API terms, which do not include a licence to publish your content. YouTube audio may be fetched through Tunelio when YouTube blocks direct downloads. The app runs on a Hetzner server in Germany. Errors are reported to Sentry without transcript content. There is no advertising, analytics or tracking.

Terms

Access is by invitation and can be withdrawn. Use it for material you have the right to transcribe. The service is provided as is, without warranty; transcripts are automatic and may contain errors. Provider costs are covered by the operator for invited users.
